PROJECT 1: SERIES

My work is a series of sex toy images using fabric sewing techniques. Each piece is in the same color scheme and did in a 10*10 inches square to unify the whole work together. Cotton balls are being stuffed inside to create more depth and help emphasize the objects.

IDEAS

The series is trying to display sex toys in a very naive, cute, and innocent way by using a set of colors and the stitching style. The cute way of depicting each piece is contrasting with such taboo objects in Thai society. When thinking of toys we think of something enjoyable and pleasurable, same as when we grew up there is still a whole new category of toys that adults use for the same reasons but it is something people are still ashamed to talk about and feels like it is inappropriate. For that reason, I chose to represent sex toys in more soft and cute ways because it shouldn’t be the things to be shameful about and to show that we can do whatever we want to give pleasure to our bodies. Last but not least pleasure is optional and it’s up to each individual which ways they use to fulfill their needs and we shouldn’t judge people’s choices.
